Leading Lancashire in their County Championship Division Two clash against Northamptonshire, the 43-year-old seamer delivered a spell that felt like a throwback to his prime years.

On the second day at Northampton, Anderson produced a brilliant performance, finishing with figures of 5 for 64 in just 13 overs. His spell tore through the Northamptonshire top order, reducing them to a precarious 41 for 5 early in the innings. It was a decisive moment that shifted the balance of the match firmly in Lancashire’s favour.
Despite some resistance from the lower order, Northamptonshire ended the day at 215 for 9, still trailing Lancashire’s first-innings total of 384 by 169 runs. Anderson wasn’t alone in his efforts, as Tom Bailey provided excellent support with three wickets, but it was the skipper who led the charge with precision and control.
