Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets in Match 10 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal. Chasing a modest target of 157, LSG rode on a composed knock from skipper Rishabh Pant to seal the victory with just one ball to spare.

After opting to bowl first, LSG’s decision proved spot on as their bowlers, led by Mohammad Shami, dismantled SRH’s top order early. Despite a strong counterattack from Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy, SRH could only manage 156/9 in their 20 overs — a total that always looked slightly below par on a decent batting surface.

SRH’s innings got off to a disastrous start as Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan fell cheaply, leaving the hosts reeling inside the powerplay. Mohammad Shami was the standout performer, delivering a sensational spell of 2 for 9 in his four overs, applying immense pressure with his accuracy and movement.

With wickets tumbling, Klaasen stepped up with a crucial innings of 62 off 41 balls, anchoring the innings while also maintaining a healthy scoring rate. He found an able partner in Reddy, who played an aggressive knock of 56 off just 33 deliveries, smashing five sixes to push SRH towards a respectable total.

However, LSG bowlers kept striking at regular intervals. Avesh Khan and Prince Yadav picked up two wickets each, while M. Siddharth chipped in with one, ensuring SRH never gained full momentum.

In response, LSG began their chase steadily, with Aiden Markram providing early momentum through a fluent 45 off 27 balls. Mitchell Marsh also contributed with a brisk 14, but SRH bowlers managed to keep things tight in the middle overs.

The chase was anchored brilliantly by Pant, who showcased maturity and control in his 68-run knock off 50 balls. Unlike his typically explosive style, Pant paced his innings smartly, finding boundaries at crucial moments while rotating strike effectively.

Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad played handy supporting roles, contributing 12 and 16 runs respectively, ensuring LSG stayed on course despite a few hiccups.

SRH did show some fight with the ball, especially through Harsh Dubey, who impressed with figures of 2 for 18 in his four overs. Shivang Kumar and Eshan Malinga also picked up a wicket each, but the total on the board didn’t give them enough cushion to defend. Jaydev Unadkat had a tough outing, conceding 50 runs in his spell, which tilted the game further in LSG’s favour during the death overs.

With just a few runs needed in the final over, LSG kept their nerves and crossed the line at 160/5 in 19.5 overs, sealing a well-deserved five-wicket victory.
