During the first unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Pant’s lively presence behind the stumps caught everyone’s attention. Pant, known for his infectious on-field personality, was heard constantly engaging with his spinners Tanush Kotian and Manav Suthar. His remarks combined tactical advice with a touch of humour, a style of communication that has become his signature since his early days with the Indian national side.

Jyada fielder nahi hai off-side mein, daalte rah apna koi nahi,’ he was heard saying, encouraging Kotian to keep attacking the stumps. Pant continued to urge him to focus on rhythm, reminding him that wickets would come as he stayed patient. The constant chat from Pant kept the dressing room energized, reflecting his natural leadership instincts and ability to ease pressure on young bowlers.

In another entertaining exchange, Pant turned cheerleader for left-arm spinner Suthar, challenging him with a playful line that has since gone viral – ‘6 ball daal ke dikhao zara maza aayega.’ The line, delivered in his trademark confident tone, sparked laughter from teammates and fans watching the broadcast feed. The moment expressed Pant’s unfiltered enthusiasm and his belief in leading by boosting morale rather than criticism.

Tanush Kotian’s four-fer restricts South Africa A to 299/9 at stumps on Day 1

India A made a strong comeback on Day 1 of the 1st unofficial Test against South Africa A in Bengaluru. After winning the toss and electing to field, India A’s bowlers kept things tight throughout the day, with Tanush Kotian leading the way with a brilliant 4-wicket haul. Kotian’s spell was pivotal in breaking partnerships and keeping South Africa A under check, as they ended the day at 299/9 in 85.2 overs.

South Africa A’s top scorer was Jordan Hermann, who made 71 off 141 balls. However, the day belonged to Kotian, who wreaked havoc with the ball, supported by Manav Suthar (2 wickets) and Anshul Kamboj (1 wicket). Tshepo Moreki (4*) remains at the crease as South Africa A will look to add a few more runs tomorrow. Despite early wickets, Zubayr Hamza and Rubin Hermann played solid knocks to ensure their side reached a competitive total by the close of play.
