The 2025 PCA Awards lit up west London on Thursday night, celebrating a memorable year in English cricket. Jordan Cox and Emma Lamb emerged as the night’s top honourees in their respective categories after remarkable domestic seasons that also saw both earn England recalls. The event, widely regarded as the ‘cricketers’ Oscars,’ also honoured standout performers from international and domestic competitions, from county cricket to The Hundred.
Jordon Cox rewarded for consistency and flair
Cox’s meteoric rise continued as he took home the Men’s Player of the Year award after a sensational summer across formats. The Essex batter, who narrowly missed an England Test debut last year, made an emphatic statement with his bat in 2025. His maiden T20 hundred for Essex and dominance in The Hundred — where he finished as the top run-scorer and was also named The Hundred Men’s Player of the Year — underlined his exceptional form. Cox beat strong competition from Joe Root, Ed Barnard, and Dom Sibley.
Emma Lamb shines brightest in women’s cricket
Lamb’s brilliance with the bat earned her the Women’s Player of the Year award, capping a season of consistency and determination. Though she missed the ceremony due to England’s ongoing World Cup commitments in Colombo, her performances for Lancashire spoke volumes. Lamb was instrumental in Lancashire’s Metro Bank Cup triumph, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer. She edged out heavyweights Nat Sciver-Brunt, Kathryn Bryce, and Georgia Elwiss for the honour.
Recognising youth and legacy
The youth categories saw Rehan Ahmed and Davina Perrin pick up the men’s and women’s young player awards respectively, while cricketing legend Graham Gooch received the Outstanding Contribution Award for his lifelong service to the game. Adil Rashid and Nat Sciver-Brunt were also honoured with Rado Recognition Awards, celebrating their achievements in international cricket.
Jos Buttler, Joe Root claim global honour
The spotlight also shone on England’s international stalwarts, as Jos Buttler, Root, and Harry Brook dominated the men’s international categories at the PCA Awards 2025. Buttler was named T20I Men’s Player of the Summer for his explosive batting displays and match-winning knocks that defined England’s T20 campaign. Root, ever-consistent and elegant, earned the ODI Men’s Player of the Summer title after another prolific year in the 50-over format, anchoring England’s innings with trademark precision and composure. Meanwhile, the dynamic Brook continued his rise in red-ball cricket, securing the Men’s Test Player of the Summer award for his fearless stroke play and crucial contributions in England’s Test victories.
