Her innings was a perfect blend of aggression and precision, while debutant Rawal impressed with a composed 75 off 96 balls, anchoring one end superbly.

Richa Ghosh added late fireworks with a brisk 32 off 22 deliveries, propelling India past the 300-run mark. Alyssa Healy’s tremendous century leads Australia to a thrilling win

Chasing 331, Australia’s openers came out firing, with and Phoebe Litchfield stitching together a fluent 85-run opening stand. Litchfield contributed 40 off 39, playing her part before falling to a sharp catch by Sneh Rana. Healy, however, was unstoppable. She dominated the Indian bowlers with her exceptional strokeplay, bringing up her century off just 90 balls and continuing to accelerate as the innings progressed.

Ellyse Perry, who added 47 runs off 52 balls, provided strong support before retiring hurt due to cramps. India seized the opportunity to claw back, picking quick wickets through Amanjot Kaur and Shree Charani, who struck twice in quick succession. The momentum briefly swung India’s way when Healy was dismissed for 142 after a spectacular catch from Rana, but Australia’s depth came to the fore once again.

Ashleigh Gardner played a critical hand with her 45 off 46 balls, while the returning Perry showcased immense composure under pressure to steady the chase. Sophie Molineux (18) and Kim Garth (14*) held their nerve in the closing stages, ensuring Australia crossed the finish line in 49 overs.

Despite India’s spirited fielding effort, the bowlers couldn’t contain Australia’s relentless batting unit. The record-breaking chase of 331 surpassed the previous highest of 302 by Sri Lanka against South Africa in 2024, and also broke Australia’s own World Cup record chase of 278 against India in 2022. The thrilling encounter saw a total of 13 sixes, the most ever in a Women’s World Cup match, and an aggregate of 661 runs, making it one of the most memorable contests in women’s cricket history.
